Heart-failure AI identifies patients likely to survive but lose independence
Juntendo University researchers developed a model that separates the risk of losing independence from the risk of death after heart-failure hospitalization. In a 6,382-patient study, it identified a group with relatively high survival but substantial functional decline. The result could inform rehabilitation planning, but model-guided care has yet to demonstrate better outcomes.
